Know ye then, that the Right Honourable Lady Jeanne-Elise M. Heydecker stands as the custodian of the ancestral scrolls for our venerable branch of the Heydecker name. Many kin still reside in the lands now known as Switzerland. Her predecessor in this cherished duty was her Great Aunt Peg, a woman of great memory, integrity, and care. Indeed, since the year of our Lord 763, it has been the tradition within each generation to entrust one soul with the sacred charge of preserving the family’s tales.
Her Ladyship’s mother, Patricia Ann (née Glynn) Heydecker, embraced the modern age, venturing into the digital realms of the internet to gather further knowledge and documents, which she diligently stored within the virtual archives of Ancestry.com. During her pursuit of this ancestral project, she also meticulously chronicled her entire family history, tracing its roots back to the very reign of our illustrious First King, Robert the Bruce.
This very chronicle, mark ye well, is presented in two distinct parts, one dedicated to each of the esteemed families that intertwine to form this rich heritage.

Glen/Glennie/Glynn Heritage

Clan Glen (sometimes simply “Glenn” or “Glynn” or “Glennie”) is a small clan whose existence has been documented as early as the year 1292. The very name “Glen” speaks of a feature of the land itself. It appears that distinct families bearing this name arose independently in the regions of Peebles, Renfrewshire, and even across the border in England. Our present focus shall be upon Clan Glen within Renfrewshire, its connection to Peebleshire, tracing its branches through Bar and Glenlora, and thence to Ulster and the distant shores of America. Many volumes have been penned about the Glens, yet few remain in print or are readily available in digital form for our research.
